The Kruger Park had its start in 1897 as the then President Paul Kruger proclaimed the area between the Crocodile and Sabie Rivers as the Sabie Reserve. Throughout the beginning of the 20th century more and more land was edit on, and donated by Private landowners, one of them was Eileen Orpen who had a love for wildlife.

The first warden appointed was Major Stevenson-Hamilton, and was told to manage a piece of land the size of the Netherlands. He did this with success and due to his temperament earned himself the name "Skukuza", meaning "He who turns things upside down"
In 1926 the reserve was named Kruger National Park.

Visit this internationally famous game reserve which is the largest in South Africa and where the probability of viewing the "Big Five" is great.

Morning breakfast at the riverside are included, and you have the option of dining at the local restaurant in the evenings. Enjoy a tranquil evenings around an open campfire while listening to the sounds of the wild, in the distance. Included is a visit to the local museum detailing the historical origins of the reserve.

If a safari in the Kruger Park is requested, and your arrival destination in South Africa is Johannesburg Airport as the first stop, we strongly recommend the fly-in option.
From Johannesburg it is only 1 hour trip to get to K.M.I. (Kruger Mpumalanga International) Nelspruit Airport, which is a mere 27km from the nearest gate to the Kruger National Park itself, and after landing it is only a 50 meter walk to the vehicle to start your adventure.
It makes for a relaxed start, and of course Zebra Tours will be there to meet you.

Skukuza is the biggest camp in the park en is situated in the South, and is reachable by airplane, as a small airport is situated just North of it.

From the Kruger park various options are available. Spend time in the Kruger Park for a few days (minimum 3 nights), and fly-out as well, or continue your journey by road to other Game Parks and destinations.
